Zarina Hashni: On Her Life and work
On November 1, at the Panel on Zarina: Dark Roads, A/P/A Institute Artist-in-Residence Zarina Hashni presented a stunning selection of personal photographs and reflections to introduce her life and work

I was asked to return to the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU to film a special 3-day interview with their Artist-in-Residence at the time, Zarina Hashni. As a special project, I edited this short audio piece, condensing 3 days of footage into a short piece to celebrate her life work and show the trajectory of her experiences and story of immigration.
As Artist-in-Residence 2017-2018, Hashni’s artwork, most notable print work, was featured in a variety of public events while she also completed a series of new essays as part of her residency. There was a gallery setup with some of her pieces at the A/P/A Institute on Washington Mews at NYU.
I was lucky to hear these memories live and create a piece featured at one of the celebratory events of her residency and lifework.
